Lovely little flat with view on the channel in the very heart of Venice, 2 minutes walk from Rialto bridge and 10 minutes walk from S. Marco.

We had a great time! This was our 2nd time renting the apartment, each time for a month! It's in a great location in the center of Venice, equally accessible to both sides of the Grand Canal. Yes, you need to deal with the crowds around the Rialto Bridge, but we found it actually fun to thread our way through them. After a few minutes you can escape the tourist-heavy Rialto area and go over to, for example, Campo San Polo (to the west) or Campo Santa Maria Formosa (to the east) and enjoy lively and fun Venice without the crowds. The apartment isn't luxurious but is cozy and comfortable. The kitchen, though small, worked fine for us and there are convenient food markets nearby, especially Coop and Despar right by the Rialto Bridge. We used the washer multiple times to wash clothes and it worked just fine. The property owner (Paola) is helpful, friendly and very knowledgeable about the city; and the Venice Neighbours staff do a good job giving you the necessary orientation and helpful tips when you arrive. You'll find many cafes for morning coffee and pastry, happy hour destinations (bacari), restaurants and gelato shops very close to the apartment. All around a great place!

I enjoyed my stay here. The apartment is very well located, just a minute or two's walk to the Rialto Bridge and about a five minute walk to Piazza San Marco.Shopping is also nearby, with a Coop supermarket a few minutes walk away, as well as a Despar supermarket located a few minutes away on the Grand Canal.The large room has a fairly good kitchen and the living room, including a sofa bed, a small television set, a small stereo system with some CDs, plus a heating/air conditioning unit. A friend of mine stayed with me for a few days and she said that the sofa bed was comfortable to sleep on.Another good thing about the apartment, which is on the first floor (Europe)/second floor (US), are the two windows directly overlooking a small canal, with great views over the gondolas that pass by regularly (as well as motorboats).The smaller room is the bedroom, which has a space heater that can be turned on and placed near the bed. There were enough blankets to keep me warm on chilly nights.There are a few caveats that I should mention. One is that the walls must be thin, as I could clearly hear the people in the apartment next door in the bedroom (first an Italian family with kids, followed by a group of French speaking people.)Another is that there is no microwave oven in kitchen.Finally, the shower is a bit tight, and the wooden beams in it were just a couple of inches above the top of my head (I am 5'11"), so people who are big or tall should take note.

Very central location with easy access via public transportation. Restaurants, stores, and the major sights are within a few steps from the door. The place was old but fitted with everything needed to stay a few days.

The apartment needed to be swept good, there is no place to store your clothes. There is no view from the windows.
