Very NOT GOOD
We lived in the apartment for three months and counted the days until we could leave! It was an incredibly noisy place: alarms and traffic during the day, homeless people singing karaoke, and construction work going on all around. From 6 PM to 5 AM, drums would play—causing the walls to crack—and the music from nearby nightclubs was so loud that the living room sofa vibrated; lying on it felt like dancing at a disco. The walls shook, the sofa shook, the neighbor's dog barked, and helicopters flew overhead. A homeless man with a microphone sang songs every night at 9 PM, and men played loud dominoes under the window all night long. Homeless people, transvestites, and people from the favela shouted all night because it turned out to be Lapa—the most popular street for nightlife. On the plus side, the apartment looked just like the photos, and the kitchen was fully equipped with appliances. However, there were no usable closets—they were simply locked shut—so we had to keep our belongings in our suitcases for three months, which was very inconvenient. Also, the power outlets only supported 120 volts! We lost internet access for three days with no help from anyone, leaving us completely cut off in a foreign country!
Strong winds or rain would blow in through gaps in the windows, and the balcony door would rattle. The air conditioner wasn't working; it was eventually repaired, but it gave off a smell of burning plastic for the entire three months. During its first use, the washing machine went haywire and slammed into the wall; it was later fixed. The toilet flush wasn't working, so we paid to have it repaired ourselves—spending $90 that was never reimbursed. When we arrived, the apartment was filthy and full of dust; there were cigarette butts behind the sofa, and we had to clean it all up ourselves. And yet, we had paid $150 for cleaning! Please refund our money! The pictures were hung using tape and fell off the wall after a couple of weeks. They were exterminating cockroaches in the building, and the entire ground floor was littered with them; rats were constantly crawling around outside, and the area was full of homeless people, drug addicts, and alcoholics—it’s a very dangerous neighborhood. Even though municipal workers clean the streets, there was always trash right outside the building—including heaps of human feces.. We were making pizza in the kitchen, and the smell must have wafted out; a neighbor actually stuck her head onto our balcony to see what we were doing and started shouting—she even complained about us. So, be careful—the neighbors are nasty; there’s also another neighbor who practices magic. The environment is unfriendly. We left a huge number of items in the apartment (5 kg of rice, coffee, tea, laundry detergent and dish soap, a grill, charcoal, lighter fluid, matches, a large beach umbrella, toiletries, frozen chicken and fish, and much more), yet we didn't even get a "thank you." We also cleaned the apartment before leaving.
