We got the impression that Saty and Kurmeti have become a bit of a tourist trap with sometimes doubtful value for money. In Demalike Guest House, we found a super-friendly place and were hosted by a super-nice family. It’s basic, but good. We stayed longer than planned. Good beds, very quiet, a nice location at the end of Karabulak.

Le lieu est très reposant ! J'ai rarement aussi bien dormi.
Et les propriétaires de la guesthouse sont trés gentils ! On a beaucoup rigolé et ils nous ont organisé une petite soirée danse avec les autres voyageurs où chacun a montré les danses traditionnelles de son pays ☺️
Ils aiment partager la culture de leur pays, nous avond beaucoup appris !
Le quartier est safe, il n'y a aucun problème pour se balader seule dans les alentours et le lac Kolsai est vraiment pas loin.

Quiet location off the beaten path.
Volleyball with family at night.
Cheap accommodation.
Rock hard beds.
Communication was difficult, organising taxi (6000 per person from Almaty each way) was last minute. Person messaging is in China not onsite.
No information provided when you arrive for how to get anywhere in the area or things like where to find drinking water?
Payment was a hassle - Could do WeChat payment to a Chinese business but no manager onsite so got bombarded with messages and calls after checking out saying we didn’t pay but they never explained how to do so?
Organised breakfast that was paid for on our last morning and it never arrived so had to leave on an empty stomach.
