A Beautiful Natural Retreat — Just Bring Extra Pesos for Dining
Our stay at Fairmont Mayakoba was truly special, mostly thanks to the property itself. The resort is built around a network of lagoons and mangroves, and it’s clear an enormous amount of care goes into keeping these green spaces pristine. Winding paths and boat canals thread through the jungle, and you constantly spot wildlife — herons, turtles, even the occasional coati — without ever leaving the grounds. It gives the whole place a wonderfully natural, unhurried feel that’s rare for a resort of this size. We spent as much time just wandering or gliding along the canals by boat as we did at the pool, and it completely shaped the relaxed vibe of the trip.
The one letdown was the food. Prices across the resort’s restaurants are steep, but the quality didn’t match — meals were fine, not memorable, and for the cost we expected something more refined.
Overall, the setting and grounds more than made up for the dining, and we’d happily return

The main issue with a hotel is food, don’t wait anything special, breakfast is ok and the rest is overpriced and small choice.

As a former 5-star hotelier director, I can often have high standards. Just ask my husband 😉 The Fairmont Mayakoba team well exceeded our expectations. Gabriel and Salvador and additional team members in guest services. Erick, Marcos, Ezequiel and the beach servers, the Cafe Maya team, Roxana at Brisas, tequila tasting (he was so knowledgeable and his name has slipped my mind) and many more were all wonderful! A special shoutout to Gabriel for recognizing our Honeymoon status and going above and beyond for my husband and I. The Fairmont and all of Mayakoba will be on a repeat destination for us. The access to amazing dining, fun daily bike rides, wonderfully clean guest rooms and beautifully combed beaches are just a few of the reasons we loved our stay. Oh and how could I forget the Le Labo signature scent of products (nice touch!)
Keep doing what you are doing… going above and beyond for guests is what hospitality is all about. It was fun for me to be on the receiving side of it for a change! Especially after a stressful wedding era! Cheers and see you all again soon!
