Such a nice place to stay

DYI survival at winter with small kids at night & 0 effort from the host. Broken window, no heating.

The location, supermarket across the street

There was 0 effort with the preparations from the host, and mostly automated messages. We informed the host upon booking and far ahead of time, that we'd be arriving with small children late at night and asked for help with setting up the sofa-bed (received confirmation on the request). Upon our arrival (late at night), the apartment was 10 degrees C, the heaters weren't working and there was a hole in the window (we plugged it up with a towel). So yea, barn temperatures. Small children basically sleeping in outdoors conditions (fully clothed and as many blankets as possible). As a result we got a fever of 39.5 C and now can't go to work due to having to care for the kids. Luckily we made it onto the plane and back home. The booking was non-refundable!!! Imagine arriving at night into these conditions.. litigation is the last thing on your mind. I repeat, the booking was non-refundable! Back to the apartment. Additional bonus was the heating controls - you had to get lucky to turn them on, trying out combinations upon combinations (eventually, through sheer luck - you need to hold the power button down for 3-5 sec? to start a new sequence). Through trial and error we got it working on the second day, meaning a night and a full day in outdoor conditions for us. The host said it should be automatic and heating would turn on if temp dropped below 20C.. yeah.. not much sophistication in those controls/system. Had the heating at least been turned on ahead of time/arrival, it might have been a decent experience.. so yea, 0 effort from the host. Communications with the host. In the morning we received an automated message how lovely and wonderful our life should be. Our nightly messages seeking help/advice/anything really, had been ignored. We received several automated messages before an actual person responded with concerns about the window being broken.

God plass, god seng, velutstyrt kjøkken med alt man trenger for å lage mat hvis man ønsker det. Likte at det var en sofa til å slappe av i etter en lang dag på farten i London. Likte også at det var et generøst garderobe stativ i stedet for klesskap. Likte at det var krydder kaffe og te i skapet og nok tabletter til oppvaskmaskinen og ikke minst, varmt vann og god trykk i dusjen.

At brødristeren utløste brannalarmen selv under kjøkkenvifta.
