Amazinging location, but filthy apartment

This apartment has the potential to be great, because its location is good and so is its terrace, but as it stands right now it falls short. First the good things: - wonderful terrace - parking at the apartment - well-kept building - elevator (but you still need to walk up one floor!) - working oven, microwave, dishwasher and washer/dryer combination - bedlinnen and towels were clean - nice spacious shower - there is good lighting throughout the apartment

- the apartment was filthy: dust everywhere, but more importantly everything in the kitchen was sticky (for example: the cups and plates stuck to the shelves) and the bathroom had been cleaned superficially (there were even feces stains on the underside of the toilet seat!). The outside furniture had clearly not been cleaned in a long time either. - the apartment is in need of repairs. Just some things we noticed: the awning (sunshade) of the bedroom, the light over the sink in the bathroom, one of the bedside lights and one of the shades in the second bedroom did not work. - there were a lot of ants in the apartment; this is a known problem apparently because there was ant spray in the apartment. - the apartment often smelled of sewer fumes (especially in the bathroom); the owner had communicated to us upfront that this problem (mentioned by reviewers) had been solved. - there was no toilet paper or soap provided; usually the bare necessities for the first night are provided, so this was surprising. - the apartment provides no instructions / documentation: no welcome note, no instructions on the garbage disposal, no instructions on the wifi, no instructions on the airconditioning, no documentation on how to operate any of the appliances. Just simply nothing. - the communication of the owner is poor. Other than standard messages (“thank you for booking”), they did not respond to messages through booking or by email until prompted by telephone. They are not reachable by phone in the weekend, something we found out when we tried to reach them to know how check-in would work as they had not reached out to us in any way. Only after involving Booking did they send us (very brief) instructions on how to enter into the apartment. They also did not check in with us in any way during our stay. After checking-out we did get the standard message of course and a request to leave a 10/10 review on Booking.

Overall a very pleasant apartment with sufficient space but the accommodation seemed a little stale

Pleasant roomy apartment, excellent location being within 15 minutes walk of the centre. Within easy walking distance for bus to railway station. Relatively quiet neighbourhood (only experienced 1 night of obtrusive music from apartment close by). Also easy access to mini market which catered for all our needs.

I reported to the agent the awful smell from the shower tray, and a shower room window which could not be opened as it was broken, the grubby condition of sofa and also the stained cushions for the balcony furniture. Cooking facilities very limited, with a poor use of kitchen cupboard space and we were only catering for two people! Certainly very restricted for 4
