About this house rental

Dear Vacationers,

A vacation in the Franconian Forest promises unspoiled nature and relaxation in an idyllic setting. Our vacation home is located just a few meters from Frankenwaldsee Lake, surrounded by dense forests and a spacious lawn. A loop trail around the lake is perfect for relaxing walks, while the town of Lichtenberg is only about 3 minutes away. The region offers numerous hiking trails and perfect mountain bike routes that lead directly to Bad Steben, Hölle, the Schwarzenbach Forest, the Döbraberg, or the nearby Rennsteig. Here, you can fully enjoy the peace and beauty of the Franconian Forest.

Our vacation home has 2 bedrooms and can accommodate up to four people. It has a living area of about 80 square meters and sits on a 900-square-meter lot right on the edge of the forest. With a little luck, you can spot deer from the terrace in the morning or evening. The first floor features a spacious living room with a fireplace (one pack of firewood included), air conditioning, and satellite TV; a dining area; a fully equipped new kitchen with a dishwasher, microwave, refrigerator, freezer, electric kettle, and coffee maker; and a bathroom with a shower and instant water heater. The south-west-facing terrace, furnished with comfortable chairs, a dining table, a patio umbrella, and a grill, invites you to relax outdoors. In the garden, there is a beautiful panoramic sauna with a view of the forest. A solar-heated shower, available from April through October, offers a pleasant way to cool off. On the sauna terrace, you’ll find a swivel sun lounger for relaxing. Use of the sauna is available for an additional fee: 0.50 cents/kWh. A charcoal grill and a fire pit are also available. The 900-square-meter garden is not fenced in.
Upstairs, there is a bedroom with a double bed and satellite TV, a second bedroom with a fold-out couch, as well as bed linens and towels, which are included in the price. A side staircase leads directly from the living room to the upper floor (please note: there are no child safety locks or barriers).

There are numerous sights and recreational activities in the surrounding area. The swimming lake, which features a circular hiking trail, is only 400 meters away. You can also relax at the thermal baths in Bad Steben or Bad Lobenstein. The old mining town of Lichtenberg entices visitors with its historic market square and romantic alleyways. From Lichtenberg, you can hike to the romantic Höllental valley with the Hirschsprung waterfall or draw drinking water from the Höllensprudel spring. The Friedrich Wilhelm Stollen visitor mine, the medieval castle festival in Lichtenberg, and classical concerts at Haus Marteu are additional attractions. The spa town of Bad Steben, with its beautiful spa park, thermal baths featuring a sauna area and Skypool, as well as an outdoor pool, is only about 3 kilometers away. You can also hike along the Rennsteig or the Mauerweg, which once formed the inner-German border (2 km away). The cities of Coburg and Kulmbach, with their castles and palaces, are also worth a visit. The Bleilochtalsperre, Germany’s largest dam, is perfect for boating, and in Saalburg there’s a fairy-tale forest, a summer toboggan run, and a raft rental service. The Lauenstein Chocolate and Praline Factory and Lauenstein Castle are worth a visit on rainy days. Here you can treat yourself and find the perfect gifts for your loved ones back home.
When it comes to dining, there are a variety of restaurants and inns in the area offering regional specialties. The Harmonie Restaurant and the Burghotel Lichtenberg in Lichtenberg, the Gasthaus Hubertus in Bad Steben, the Gasthaus Stollen in the Höllental with its beer garden, the Blechschmiedehammer Inn in Höllental, the Italian restaurant Da Carmelo in Bad Steben, and the Wirtsstube Adeltskammer in Bad Steben are just a few of the recommended options.
In winter, the Franconian Forest offers a wide range of activities in the snow. You can go cross-country skiing or downhill skiing right nearby. In Naila, there are many groomed cross-country trails, and at Döbraberg, Heinersreuth/Presseck, and the Birkholzlift ski area (about 15 minutes away), as well as at Fichtelberg, Ochsenkopf North or South (about 40 minutes away), you’ll find longer slopes. The Schöneck ski resort is also only about 35 minutes away.
