Characterful, historic and very dog friendly. Clean room and excellent breakfast. Lovely staff and right where I needed to be in the centre of town.
A bit cold until the heating came on. Shower was a bit luke warm but I was up early before the heating was on. WiFi is weak but I managed with 4G If you are not used to old, hard to heat and maintain buildings this might not be for you.

Lovely location, plentiful and tasty breakfast. Evening meals plentiful and good selection. Friendly staff and locals, great crack as us Scots say lol

The room was nice and warm, with all you'd expect inside the room. The bar area was pleasant with a good selection of drinks available and enough seating. Restaurant area was also nice with a varied menu.
Staff could perhaps do with some more training around general customer service. Breakfast in particular not well managed with tables not being cleared and rubbish not being taken away from shared areas e.g. cereal packaging. There was also two pizza boxes which we assume from the night before just left on the counter. The server hid away in the kitchen so people waited a long time to be served.
Not once were we asked if food was OK, or if the stay in general was OK when checking out.
