Quiet and comfortable but not lovely

Property is in a convenient location near the station and bus routes. It was quiet and the bed was comfortable but it goes downhill from there.

Firstly it has to be said you need a smartphone with wi-fi to get in - entry instructions came by e-mail while we were on our travels. You also need a smartphone to be able to effectively use the TV. A hi-tech Android TV looks great but no TV tuner so a black box has been added but getting to it was a nightmare. Poor software for the remote made it slow and unresponsive. It took the owner 20 minutes to actually get a TV programme. Lots of apps for Netflix etc, but no subscriptions - you'd have to use any on your phone. Hob didn't work. Owner had to completely turn off power to the apartment and on again to get it to work. To get the reading light to work he unplugged the coffee machine. Microwave timer poorly designed & we had to manually time cooking. Shower curtain was not very effective so floor of tiny cramped shower room was flooded. Shower room smelt damp; radiator was painted over and seized up, though owner managed to free it.. Convenient for transport, it is not so convenient for restaurants or buying food; it would have been nice to have had a map and list in the room. The owner was friendly and helpful, driving over to sort out the problems, but they should have been addressed before we arrived. It's a shame, but we were not impressed. €20 cleaning charge is over the top.
