San Remo Hotel

The location was good and in a quiet neighborhood. The facilities were clean, and although I shared a bathroom, there never was a wait.

Absolutely amazing hotel it is all about location, location location! It is not your typical hotel with your typical hotel amenities as our room was a queen size bed and a bathroom and that was it. But that is exactly what we needed and exactly what we signed up for. All the marketing and online images available are exactly as advertised. The hotel has a very eclectic style that is unique and we enjoyed it immensely. The staff at the front desk was absolutely amazing and very helpful with navigating aspects of the city and offering to help with baggage as the hotel is located on the second floor. We absolutely recommend this as a stay if you’re in San Francisco.

What I liked about this hotel is that it is an historic old San Francisco hotel, similar to smaller boutique hotels or family-run hotels in Europe. The rooms are small compared to the larger chain hotels. You have the option of a room where you use shared shower and bathroom facilities down the hall, or a room with it's own bathroom and shower, which is what I opted for. Chirag was most helpful with explaining hotel policies, recommending nearby restaurants, and even had some stories about the hotel's past. The location is in a mostly residential area with a few shops and restaurants close by. Fisherman's Wharf, Ghirardelli Square, and streetcar stops are also within walking distance. There is no hotel parking so you're on your own as far as overnight parking. There are a few 24-hour parking garages within walking distance.

Had my own room with shared bathroom. Shared bathroom was very cute, fully stocked with amenities, and always clean. The decor is antique and makes you feel like you are stepping back in time, which I loved. Great location, great for solo travellers.
