The Lydden Bell

Bar/restaurant with accommodation located in a quiet rural area but close to the A2 and only a 10-15 minute drive to the Dover ferries. On site parking is adequate and free. Our room (in a recently restored barn, separate from the pub) was very comfortable, especially with its efficient underfloor heating. A good breakfast was included and our meal in the restaurant was excellent. They have a wide menu ranging from classic pub favorites to original and innovative dishes. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. In fact they went well over and above the call of duty by helping us when we had serious problems in trying to book a ferry crossing, due to the failure of my mobile. We loved our far too short stay in the Lydden Bell.

Can't think of anything to criticise. Being incredibly picky, it was quite difficult to reach the switch for our bedside lights without getting out of bed.

The quiet , comfortable room. Easy access. The pub food was lovely.

Breakfast not starting until 10. Parking could be an issue.

Im sorry I can’t recommend staying here

Small cabins within 50 M of the road into Dover and your below road height with passing transport during the night. Our bedding had to be changed on arrival. Landlady said it was down to a soiled batch of laundry from the cleaners but it very much appeared to us it has not been changed after other guests. In the upside the bar staff ladies were very friendly and we were given a free drink each whilst we waited for bedding change over.
