We stayed here for one night, as we were at a wedding which wasn’t too far from here.
We arrived early, and were told staff would take out bags in for us, but when we arrived just after 1pm our room was ready, this fitted in with us leaving for the wedding perfectly.
No breakfast, but we were aware of this before we arrived so it was fine.

Character Pub, lovely friendly staff, comfortable room. Everything that you need for a stay away from home. Tea making facilities much appreciated.
It would be nice to have a chair in the room somewhere (I was in room 1). The mirror has been mounted too low to the basin. You can’t bend your face over the basin to brush teeth as the glass shelf is in the way! Really hard to use - have a go and you’ll see! A hand towel rail would be useful too.

Quiet location, good food, room had everything I needed for a pleasant stay.
Mattress was a little uncomfortable

The property was well located within a couple of miles to Durham centre.
When we arrived, we both thought it looked a little run down from the outside but pleasantly surprised that the room was bigger than most and clean and tidy. Unfortunately the shower seemed to have no pressure but it was fine for a night.
The food was very disappointing, they didn’t have a couple of items on the menu and when we did order our meal, the chef only had enough dauphinoise potatoes for one portion so we were offered garlic mash as an alternative for one dish. The food arrived cold, there was barely any mushroom sauce over the chicken and the garlic mash was so dry I think it may have been made from a packet.
To be fair the staff were lovely and tried to be helpful but the main let down was the food.

"Really lovely stay. The staff were incredibly helpful and accommodating, especially when my arrival was delayed. They arranged a smooth self check-in for me late at night and even provided a fridge in..."
