Entire host family is indeed exceptional. They are cultured, caring and extremely helpful. Their breakfast menu is elaborate. The "hotel" decor is quite eye pleasing. Hands-on and responsive team of family based staff is quite welcoming. Location is in Medina interior and quickly reachable for most points of interest. They go literally extra mile to escort you in and out of the maze of tight lanes leading to the property. This service is necessay and they attend to it brilliantly. Rooftop Terrace can be fun location for serving mama's home made delicacies albeit a lot of climbing for the guests and much harder for the servers.
Lodging space is extremely tight. Perhaps a normal thing for all the Medina accomodations. We had booked a double room apparently accomodating two people. But it was woefully inadequate. After overcoming the shock of tight space we somehow manged. Abdou did offer a free room upgrade next day, but we did not pursue it further and let our bodies manage to squeeze for our 3 night stay. While family tries to help, they are helpless on this tight space issue. They are aware of their handicap and work hard to compensate in other possible ways. I had to turn on my ITIA (internatinal travel instant adjustment) on high to survive here. Homemade dinner was so so.

The room is not the same of the photo, the room it was not clean and also the sheets. We asked to change it and the problem was resolved.

Great location inside the medina and it’s super well maked Palais fes yahya on near by streets so it’s easy to walk inside the medina and find the way back ..
We spent 3 nights in palais fes yahya and had really good connection and conversation with the staff and Fatima the owner.
It met all expectations .

The family who run the hotel are really friendly. They always said hello and offered us tea when we came back so it felt very welcoming. The location is great and it is beautifully decorated.
Sadly the room was disappointing as it was right next to the downstairs restaurant space and front door. This lead to multiple issues and disrupted sleep:
-The room did not feel private with people right outside the room door most the time
-It was really noisy until around 11pm with people chatting and eating in the restaurant
-Multiple times people attempted to get into our room thinking it was a bathroom
-Both nights people banged on the front door late at night to be let back in as the front door was locked
-Multiple times the lights were switched on and not turned off in the restaurant area in middle of the night so we had to get up and turn them off as the light leaked into the windows in our room
-One night someone checked in at 1:30am and there was no effort to speak quietly
Unfortunately, this meant it wasn't a relaxing stay for us and ruined what otherwise would have been a lovely stay. The owners did apologise multiple times and although we read the reviews saying it can be loud we hadn't anticipated it being this bad.
