I used to live on Arkwright Road so know what a great location this is, and how stunning the views are over Mellor and beyond. So it was great to come back and stay here the other day. Walked from the station which is just a couple of minutes away. Had one of the rooms at the top of the house, which are not en-suite but there are two very clean bathrooms shared by not many rooms so I never had to wait, didn’t see anyone else in fact. Spent the evening with old friends in the pubs of Marple Bridge down the hill, and in the morning (after the excellent breakfast) walked along the canal and up to the shops in Marple, before the generous 11am checkout. A great trip and I’d stay here again.
It’ll be clear from the reviews that this is not an anonymous modern chain hotel, so don’t book it if that’s what you want. But if you want a quirky, characterful old Victorian house in a great location with terrific views, and at a price lower than most, this is your place.

The house is wonderfully idiosyncratic, we loved its charm and character.
The family were really kind and considerate to us, especially as one of our party was unwell. They allowed her an extra few hours in bed. Very human kind.

A great place to stay. The amazing staff made us yummy bacon and egg sandwiches to take with us for breakfast as we had an early start to the Lake District. Very friendly and helpful.
