Excellent location and incredibly friendly staff.
Room #8: All sounds from outside could be heard, and when other residents came in, it sounded as if they had entered our room.

The double room was functional, despite its small size. We changed rooms after the first night (we had two separate bookings for different room types), and the staff moved our belongings to the new room during the day. Absolutely excellent service!!

Excellent position at the very heart of Edinburgh. I stayed there solo for three nights and always felt safe, while being able to reach virtually everywhere without ever needing transportation.
Despite not going out at night myself, one of the main roads is just outside of the building and allows for nice pub visits without needing to travel half of the city in the dark. It's also near the train station and the Airlink bus that comes from the Airport, which makes it a plus alongside the luggage storage that's available - for free the day of the check-in, and for about 3£ the day of check-out.
The ensuite bathroom was very minimal and not comfortable at all. The sink is basically unusable, being tiny and behind the shower, and the shower itself had a fairly big step to reach inside. If I was a bigger person, it would also be too small for me to fit into.
Towels were provided, but they're not body towels, so if you need to wrap yourself in them, you're going to need two.
It's also quite noisy - you could very clearly hear not only the people from the road outside, but those coming and going in the corridor of my building.
Cleanliness could have also been better, as there was some considerable dust and a dead spider in my room. I don't personally complain, but it's something that can be improved for sure.

Couldn’t be a more central location right by the Royal Mile.
Helpful staff at reception.
Bedding, dorm and bathrooms were clean.
Good value for money.
Three flights of stairs up to the dorm.
The bunk beds were really creaky and had no curtains.
People in the dorm not respecting hostel etiquette being loud, talking and turning on lights well past midnight.
Also people were very loud outside the dorm in the hallway late at night. The hostel really needs to be strict about this kind of behaviour.
The Wi-Fi was unreliable.
