About this house rental
Welcome to our cottage by the sea – cherished by four generations of our family.
Originally built in the 1870s, extended in the 1890s and updated with a California Bungalow restyle in the 1920s, the house has been recently redecorated and now has modern amenities including heatpump ducted central heating.
Relax on the porch and enjoy the harbour views through the pohutakawa trees, or in the privacy of the garden terrace. Walk over the road to the beach and rockpools.
Wellington Airport is 5 minutes drive away as are a supermarket as well as cafes and restaurants.
Fully equipped bach style kitchen. Broadband WiFi and internet/Freeview television.
Bathroom with cast iron bathtub for relaxing in and separate shower.
A 3 night minimum stay applies.
No smoking allowed in the house or on the property. No pets allowed (sorry!)

This house in Karaka Bays is wonderful. I lived in the Wellington area as a child and was taking my family from the USA to visit NZ. The home is an older home that has been updated with modern conveniences and it is filled with artistic history. While we stayed there during a blustery stretch of Wellington winter it was a wonderful place to stay as we explored and enjoyed the City. It is a quick and easy drive to get downtown, but feels far away from the city. It has fabulous views of the harbor entrance. The house is cozy, comfortable and retro in a very good way. And the host was very communicative and even took the time to ensure we had checked in and figured out how to operate the central heating. Which I have to say was a nice touch since it was quite a cold and windy Wellington evening/night. All in all, I would definitely recommend the house and all four of us enjoyed it.

This is a lovely Arts and Crafts style house with an interesting family history. A beautiful seaside area. We had everything we needed for a warm and comfortable stay. Highly recommend
