Easy to find collection office with Google maps

Did not warn us about no access areas and where we could park up so that we could collect keys. In our case we had a Blue Badge but parking spaces were very limited. Our only other concern was that several days of heavy rain had caused the River Ouse to rise significantly and the gated car park was next to the river.

Things we liked: - Excellent location, very close to the train station and within walking distance of the city centre - Convenient with a parking space - All the standard amenities, in good condition - Safe area - Fairly quiet place - The office managing the property is responsive and knows what they're doing - Not overly expensive; the price is just right

Things we didn't like: - Not a dealbreaker, but the smoke detector on the kitchen ceiling is very close to the oven and will trigger the moment you open its door while it's still hot - Not a bad thing, but guests should read all the available information regarding the property, the surroundings and things you can do in York to make their stay smoother

Location was great and layout was perfect.

Shower head came off when someone showered and he fixed it but then it came off again and hit me so had to repair it before using again. Hot water also ran out and we had no hot water on our last day.

The size of the appartment is good, and the location is excellent for getting into York and back. The appartment quality is good, we didn't suffer from any sound issues.

On arrival in the apparement on a freezing February half term we were met with a cold appartment. After spending an hour trying fruitlessly to get the central heating to come on, I was told by Stays York that the owners have fixed the central heating to 14 degrees. FOURTEEN degrees, in February. There are individual electric heaters in each room, so we had to use them to heat the appartment. After a day the appartment was warm enough, but it is really not acceptable to rent out an appartment for such a high price and not even stick the heating on for people when they arrive. The appartment block is extremely cold and soulless, with a huge empty atrium. Second issue, the Wifi is terrible. I reset the router, and speed tested it throughout our stay; it measured between 2 and 6 Mbps download, 1 Mbps upload. There was no evidence that there was an issue with the router, I believe the owners have simply elected to pay for the very worst service they can find. The pattern of stinginess starts to emerge: the complimentary tea, milk etc was two UHT milk packets and two tiny packets of sugar and a few teabags. For £1 I bought a kilo of sugar and left it in the appartment; it really isn't hard to provide a decent supply of consumables for a nice appartment like this. My bed was too soft and gave me back pain, and the other bed is noisy when you move in any way. There is a thrid bed which has very lumpy mattress springs. Honestly, the appartment is in a great location and has the potential to be a top quality destination, but to be met with a locked thermostat set to 14 degrees in a freezing February half term after paying £650 is just not acceptable. If the owners were less stingy in the way they approach this appartment they could be getting 9 or 10 ratings.
