Excellent, high end hotel - the best we experienced in the Azores. Excellent spa with warm thermal pools, sauna, steam room, and decent gym. Could be better with towels at the pools - had to seek out someone to get one. Rooms come with gifts of wine and straw hats. Exceeded expectations. Good dinner; breakfast buffet decent and typical for Portugal.
Minor issues as above; overall great place.

Furnas is a magical place.
Very beautifully designed hotel with lovely outdoor areas.
The 24/7 thermal pool became our little sanctuary to close our days.
The staff are very welcoming and kind.
The breakfast was certainly our favourite!
Nothing was wrong with our stay but we expected more for the price point.
The food at the restaurant was tasty but not exceptional, in our opinion. The outdoor BBQ is quite fun though and I’d recommend that over the restaurant.
The staff were kind and helpful but there was no service at the pool which meant we had to get up and find staff to get a beverage.
The rooms have everything you may need (and the staff can help if anything is missing) but are quite snug. For the price point, and compared to other luxury stays, we expected to be more impressed.
Make sure to reserve the spa services with plenty of time ahead of your arrival! There was no availability when we arrived.

I really wanted to like Octant Furnas, especially given the price and the expectations that come with a 5-star hotel. Unfortunately, the experience did not live up to that standard.
The front desk manager was very professional, attentive, and clearly made an effort to make us feel special. The staff in general were friendly and helpful. However, good service alone cannot compensate for the condition of the property and the quality of the room.
Our room had a heating/air-conditioning issue, with the A/C not working properly, and there was a noticeable problem with humidity. The bathroom was particularly disappointing: it felt outdated and affected by humidity, with finishes and fixtures that simply do not reflect what I would expect from a 5-star hotel.
This is especially frustrating considering the price. At this level, I expect not only friendly service, but also well-maintained, comfortable and modern rooms. Other guests have made similar observations about dated bathrooms, worn finishes and the overall value not matching the rates being charged.
On a positive note, the restaurant is very good and deserves recognition. The food was one of the highlights of our stay.
But overall, the hotel does not deliver the level of quality I associate with a 5-star property. For me, it feels much closer to a 3-star hotel in terms of the rooms and accommodation standard, despite the 5-star positioning and pricing.
The location and the friendliness of the staff are positives, but unfortunately, I would not come back. At this price point, I expect much more.
