Location couldn’t be better. Next to the Roman gate, pedestrian areas with cafes, restaurants and shops all within minutes. In a historic building but rooms - not enormous but very adequate in size - renovated to a really good standard with well designed fixtures. Good bathroom. Helpful staff, particularly the young guy who recommended a beach (Stoja) to visit on the bus. Was a great tip.

Boutique Suites Joyce was created through a renovation of the old Berlitz language school where the famous Irish author James Joyce taught English in 1904-05. There is a statue of Joyce seated at a table in the cafe/restaurant beside the hotel and his first residence in Pula was around the corner. The location is central to everything in Pula and the staff is extremely helpful. Receptionist Nicolas went out of his way to track down the location of Joyce's Pula digs. The city is full of Roman ruins, including a Colosseum, excellent fish restaurants, naval museums and nearby swimmable beaches. What's not to like?

The property is in a good location, easy to walk to everything in the old town.
On booking.com it’s called boutique suites, however when you arrive you learn it’s a hostel. Very poor facilities, no kettle or glassware in the room.
