All was good

Convenient onsite underground parking, a great location for the nearby function we were attending, and a good continental breakfast included in the stay. The barista-made coffee was a lovely added touch.
We booked a Standard Deluxe room but were allocated Room 39A, an adjoining room which we hadn’t requested. It was tidy but small, narrow and dated, giving us the impression the original unit may have been divided into two.
My brother-in-law’s Standard room was reportedly larger than ours, particularly the bathroom, with our only apparent advantage being an additional sitting area at the front of the unit. Having paid extra for a Deluxe room, this was disappointing.
Maintenance issues included a broken bathroom extraction fan, an antenna cable protruding behind the TV, a broken desk light pulled away from the wall, a partially missing balcony door handle and a noisy fridge. The power points beneath the fixed bedside drawers were also difficult to access
The bathroom was extremely cramped. A stopper on the sink prevented the shower door from hitting it when opened three-quarters of the way. The toilet was wedged between the shower and wall, making it uncomfortable for my larger-built partner. The toilet roll holder was awkwardly positioned on the wall, slightly behind you and almost at ankle height, making it difficult to reach. The shower soap holder was missing, leaving three holes in the tiles. With no working extraction fan and a warning of a $300 charge if shower steam triggered the smoke detectors, we felt obliged to shower with the windows and doors open.
Overall, the room was adequate for the price, but the dated condition and lack of maintenance were disappointing. We felt paying extra for a Standard Deluxe room didn’t deliver the space or comfort expected. Better upkeep and clearer distinctions between room categories would improve the experience.
