My best friend and I stayed for 8 nights at The Island, looking for a real island vibe. We definitely found that! Rafael made us feel so welcome right on arrival and all during our stay. We felt at home and at ease. All the staff is amazing! Charles knows what to recommend from the amazing menu, Leila is the sweetest woman ever and makes beautiful flower arrangements and Irene is an amazing person. Ignace is such a kind and calming person, he was so lovely at my birthday dinner!
Flora and Witness really took amazing care of our room/cottage. Everyone is so detail-oriented, which makes everything feel so smooth and homely. A shoutout to Saidi, who actually made it his personal mission to get fresh sea urchins while the tide was not ideal, especially for us two, who really wanted to try some.
Obviously the cooks deserve special mention for the absolutely perfect food. Apart from all the seafood, they make the best bread and cake (omg, the date cake is to die for).
We have absolutely no notes!!
Small warning: ask *not* to have a guy named Vuai (or something close to this) as your guide, he really does not know what he is doing at all! Which is in sharp contrast to everyone at The Island, they are all just perfect!!

The location is pretty, romantic and the staff are very friendly
The toilets are totally open to the bedroom. There is no privacy when on the loo (see picture of bathroom roof)
The rooms have no Aircon, it's very very hot in the room at night.
The rooms are tiny. You have no space to keep suitcases out and room tidy.
The hotel isn't on an island. It's more on a little piece of land that only becomes an island once a month at high tide. The rest of the month it's connected to main land by a seaweed and dead crab infested beach. Normal tide does not make it an island.
