Breakfast, room reasonable

Difficulty in booking dinner at a reasonable time even although I phoned about it several days before, due mainly to the large (non-resident party in for dinner. On pressing reception ,they realised there had been a cancellation, now available. Also, the fire alarm at 3 am resulted in all residents standing out in the cold for 30 mins - no fire found

Last minute booking for a hotel, close to the centre, with free parking Short walk to a lovely park for the Darlington South Park run. We had breakfast at 7:30 (Saturday breakfast ends at 9:45am - which is a shame as 10:30 would make it a perfect parkrun hotel) Friday night - 2 courses for £20 - lovely food - starter portion very small

The reviews were mixed and nearly put us off booking, but thankfully we have seen this before and decided to judge for ourselves
