Hotel City Center

The room was good, shower was hot, and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The location is 5 minute walking from Brussels North and there a couple of restaurants close by.

I wish there had been a basic kettle for tea! But that is a general request for most hotels in Belgium. The plumbing was also a bit loud and you could hear the water flowing from what I assume were other people's showers at night and in the morning.

Location perfect, Staff helpful

Noisy from outside, esp. sounds of sirens of police and ambulance because it is in city center

The room was comfortable and nice. I liked the location of the hotel too. It was perfect for the one night I stayed.

You can hear everything from the street.

It is expensive for its overall quality, comparing with other expensive cities of Europe, e.g. Zurich, but at reasonable price comparing to its competitors in Brussels. A convenient place to stay if you are not looking for luxury, if you could ignore some annoying things and plan to spend most of your time outside the room. If you raise a complaint about an issue, it seems they do take some steps to address it. There are good dining options on the street where the hotel is located, or in an adjacent shopping center. It is very close to the train station and next to a metro station. You can easily walk to the city center.

The hotel does not seem to pay attention to the quality of the services provided. The main issues concern cleanliness and the quality of the bedding materials. There were marks (possibly left by paint or blood) on the sheet covering the mattress (fortunately near the edge), as well as on a pillow (which, thankfully, I didn’t need). Also, the button on the toilet flush tank was dirty, evidently from its long-term use without being cleaned. I didn’t go to the trouble of seeking solutions for everything; I tried to deal with whatever I could myself. Some things are incomprehensible. Although they changed the towels daily, they never changed the sheet on the mattress and the pillow covers during a 6-night stay. The top sheet, which had a hole from cigarette burn, was replaced at some point. Furthermore, not even a simple sweeping of the floor was done daily, though they did empty the wastebaskets. Other issues that a visitor should be aware of include: (a) noise quite early in the morning, likely from the metro or train lines; (b) a narrow staircase, wide enough for only one person; (c) a small elevator with a maximum capacity of three people; and (d) an illuminated sign (there’s no need for such lighting) next to the windows that lights up the room at night, despite the presence of blackout curtains.
