The staff here are outstanding. Everyone was so kind and welcoming. After I checked out and headed toward the bus station in the rain, they gave me an umbrella (knowing it would never be returned) just to make sure I was well taken care of. The food is also wonderful and there is so much of it! You will not go hungry here. Rooms are a bit dated but comfortable, and overlook the lake. The onsen receives water directly from the spring upstream, which is very cool!

The staff were absolutely lovely, and that’s something I won’t forget. The service was truly exceptional. Dinner was delicious and breakfast was perfect. The location is excellent, and the bathroom was super clean.
The room was good, though the hotel is starting to feel a little dated in places, and it’s not top luxury, which wasn’t what I came for anyway. My only real reservation is the price, which felt a bit high for one night at a hotel of this category. Otherwise, nothing to complain about. A wonderful stay, thanks to a wonderful team.

Exceptionally friendly and efficient personnel. Clean and functional facilities. I enjoyed using the hot springs (on the premises) every night, and my skin feels great afterwards. The Japanese toilet with heated seat and multi-functional water sprays was great (even though it was expected). Half board was included into our room price. Every night we had 5-course dinner cooked with local farms’ produce (except for the fish from the ocean).
Tiny things, like only one suitcase stand in the room. There was a sofa bed that we didn’t need, and used it as a luggage stand.

Family run. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful . The managers son went out of his way to personally transport our bags. The level of service was so credible
The small Lake Chuzenji town is passed its glory days - though it was beautiful around the historical village area, and had it not been foggy, I’m sure a boat trip would have been lovely too. The property is in a part of town that feels a little sad on off peak season
