If this hotel had fully renovated its rooms, it wouldn't have been a budget choice. So we didn't mind our room's slightly shabby interior. Brilliant location, helpful staff, daily room cleaning (we didn't expect that) and breakfast included makes this a great choice for a central stay for the same price as a small hostel dorm. Although we didn't have a car this time the parking option is great. Very green surroundings, about a 3 minute walk from the train station, willing to store your bags on check out day, constant hot water, good room heating during cold, windy nights, and tea and coffee with a kettle in the room mean you get more than basic facilities for a budget stay. Not ideal for those with reduced mobility - at least one set of rickety stairs.
Bring ear plugs as you can hear everyone moving around in adjacent rooms, as well as doors opening and closing. That said, we couldn't hear anything from the restaurant directly below us The bathroom and bedroom walls could have done with a deep clean as there was some ceiling mould. but if everything had been new, bright and shiny we'd probably have had to pay double. Towels were a little threadbare and rough. Because of the friendly staff, low price (for central Bruges) and location, none of these negatives had a major effect.

Hôtel dans la verdure et au calme, mais proche de la gare et à 10 min. à pied du centre. Petit-déjeuner varié et copieux, chambre spacieuse et lit confortable.

Its location is central. You can especially enjoy a pleasant time at Minnewater Park right next to it.
The breakfast is tasty and sufficient.
Due to some confusion during the payment process, one of the receptionists displayed an attitude that bordered on rude. It felt like she was speaking to a coworker rather than a guest. She implied something like “you might run off without paying,” though she tried to soften it—but the underlying message was clear. They didn’t even acknowledge the compliments we gave about something, or perhaps they simply didn’t speak English.
Our bed was made by combining two separate beds, so we can’t say we had a truly comfortable sleep. Also, their attitude didn’t feel very welcoming toward guests with a baby. (Only the ladies at the reception were like this—there was one gentleman who was actually quite helpful.)
