Very nice room in a very comfortable hotel. Staff were very helpful. Food was very good.
We did not like the loud piano music while dining. Made it very difficult to talk. Also the lighting over the round table was very poor. We could not easily read the menu.

I had booked a twin room but was given a double. The matter was rectified within the hour, but it was a bit unsettling.
The room was comfortable.
Breakfast was disappointing. The buffet wasn’t extensive, although there was a nice fruit salad. I asked for a small portion of scrambled egg, bacon and toast. It came as a stack. Two pieces of unbuttered toast, 2 huge rashers of bacon and a small amount of tasteless scrambled egg. Disappointing, especially as we were walking the St Edmunds Way and needed a decent breakfast.

The history and location.
Could have been cleaner. No attempt to combat the flies in the bar, and restaurant. Many areas visible from the corridors need cleaning up.
