Not the best apartment , needs some modernisation

The location was good, near town centre

There was stains on bedding and it took 2days for it to be changed. The cooker hob was all stained. There was paint on the sofa.

Not fit for purpose.

We liked the central location near to river walks.

The first thing we saw was a dirty, worn doormat that hadn't been lifted or cleaned for literally years. It needs replaced urgently. Not a good start. The white plastic front door was grubby. Just needs a wipe. A long time since anyone did that. The flat is a semi basement. The steps down to the door have also never been cleaned for years. The ancient black railings have been damaged for a long time. The outside area to the left is unkempt. It boasts next door's overflowing bin. Many pizza boxes stuffed into it. See photo below. This bin is the main delightful view from the living room. When you open the front door you are greeted with a strong smell of stale beer presumably from the previous guests. The place also smells of men, (especially the bedrooms and the beds themselves). Not in a good way. I suspect the usual guests are groups of men working away from home, but of course the place wasn't advertised as such. The place has no female touches. We were told the fee included £50 for cleaning. Not money well spent. Dirty skirtings, dirty dining table top, with finger and cup marks. Sorry, but yuck. There were none of the usual written instructions or information you see in short term rentals. Even some of the kitchen utensils sitting in a pot on the counter top were dirty. The cooker electric hobs showed signs of rust. There were meagre amounts of cutlery. The place sleeps four but there was only one settee, no other arm chairs, just one sad looking pleather bean bag chucked in a corner. There were no side tables or coffee table to sit a cup of tea on. We had to use a dining chair. Even the wall mounted TV was squint. We didn't dare touch it, so had to watch it with heads slightly tilted. There were no shelves in the shower rooms to hold toiletries which had to sit on the floors. The bedrooms had no dressing tables or even mirrors. The only mirror was in the hall. Another sign no women were involved in the 'interior design'.

Good location with some issues

The location was good, size of property was good it had 2 toilets/ showers

It could have been cleaner, our socks were filthy walking on floors, toilets not particularly clean, plumbing noisey and had a very damp smell, with one of toilets had damp patch on ceiling.

Nothing really

Very clean and warm and comfortable

Nothing

7 / 10Good·May 2026

Neat apartment with all kitchen facilities, bed and mattress comfortable. All amenities were available.

No hot / cold water mixer in wash basins. Only separate hot and cold water taps. Toilet flush took ages to fill after one use. Although we booked for 4 adults, soap was provided in only one bathroom. The quantity of soap was only for 2 persons. Location was slightly away from centre but not too far.
