It was the pool that attracted me. But alas, I never swam a stroke. I always got back to my room too late for some breaststroking before the 10 p.m. pool closing time. I did go up to check it out and was confronted with two fat German businessmen wallowing in it — naked! I'm no prude but I at least thought it respectful to pack a Speedo. But oh well, some cultural behaviors do tend to jar one's senses! The S-Bahn into Munich was a 15-minute walk away, right by a large Augustiner Keller biergarten, but from the map I could tell it might be an inconvenient slog with my heavy roll-along. When I took the walk without my luggage, it was easy enough, but I found it best to call a taxi both ways to arrive and depart. There is a modest supermarket at the base of the hotel and a bigger one just up the street. I didn't eat the breakfast, which was held in a sister property across the parking lot (where the front desk was also located), but it sure looked good and plentiful as I wheeled my luggage through to depart, and as I walked through en route to the S-Bahn on the other days. The part of the hotel in which I stayed was promoted as a sort of "health resort," so there were exercise rooms, sauna and massage services offered. My room was wonderfully comfortable, and the kind staff upgraded me, which was a lovely surprise! I had a suite with a kitchenette, the fridge of which I stocked with orange juice, milk, schinken (that awesome prosciutto-like ham the Germans do so well) and cheese. I also found a package of assorted breakfast cereals. I like the "Lion" best! It was a quiet hotel, at least on the upper floors where I was. I don't know about the lower floors. There's not really any cultural landmarks nearby, this being primarily a residential section of town, apart from the aforementioned Bier Garten.
It wasn't really convenient to downtown and the Altstadt, and every exploration day had to start with a ride on the S-Bahn back to the Hauptbahnhof. But this is not the hotel's fault.

Location, room was comfortable
Washing machine and microwave didn't work properly, we spent some time cleaning the filter in the washing machine and resetting circuit breaker for the microwave before we could use them. Although there is a small kitchen, there were no pots, pans, etc to enable any cooking.

Good location just in front of Bus station 53 , walking about 10 minutes to the nearest metro station… my junior suite with balcony was comfortable, clean , wide enough, well equipped with everything thing ,good price per night … Staff are very nice and cooperative… reasonable buffet breakfast … indoor swimming pool is amazing…
No reception staff after 10.30 pm … I think better to introduce AC not depending only on fan and balcony ( but generally September the weather is affordable during my stay in Munchen) .. also better to put a safe in every room as a 4 stars hotels criteria… also 17 euro for breakfast either to decrease it or adding more items in the buffet….

Large fridge in the room (junior suite with balcony) Spacious Air con
Reception wasn't manned and instructions to go to hotel across the road were in German Large living space in room separate from bedroom was good but there were little or no utensils or equipment provided (ie. no kettle). The wifi didn't work for a short time and there was no phone to contact recption so had to go across the road to other hotel to sort out. It felt like basic student accomodation and we discovered that that was exactly what it was sometimes used for - long term "cheap" accomodation. Only it wasn't cheap for 1 night. Breakfast wasn't included and when we saw the pandemonium in the hotel across the road where our hotel's breakfast was provided we were glad. Seemed like a large school party was there but I've never seen such a crowded busy breakfast area in my life.
