All staff were friendly & helpful, excellent evening meals and a good, light, continental breakfast (cereals, bread, pastries & yoghurts, plus tea, coffee & juice) is included in the room price; a nice cosy country pub which seems popular locally. Convenient location just off but away from the A34 at the Tothill Services junction. If you are there on an opening day, take time to visit the Sandham Memorial Chapel which is almost next door.
The exterior of the outbuildings that house 4 of the 6 rooms is un-prepossessing but, rest assured, the room we were in was warm & comfortable. The breakfast was very welcome but, if you are offering yoghurt, please include a simple plain yoghurt, without any of the sweet fruit syrups! PS: This is a personal preference and our comment could apply to many other hotels & guest houses too, not just this one.

We were looking for somewhere to stay around Newbury, and came across The Carpenters Arms purely by accident. What a find. The pub itself is quite small and dated, but that is all part of the charm. The locals were friendly and welcoming. The restaraunt, dining area was modern and spacious, the food and service was excellent.
The accomodation is seperate from the pub in old refurbished buildings, and was lovely and comfortable.
The owners and all the staff were really friendly and helpful.
All in all a thoroughly good night was had, and we will definately be back again. We have already recommended The Carpenters Arms to our friends.
As an aside, if you are looking for dog friendly accomodation, look no further.
Nothing to say here

Everything went very well. we were pleasantly surprised to see the breakfast included in the cost of the room.
I found the mattress a little hard although my husband was fine with it. On the whole everything was fine.

Location was convenient as we were attending a funeral the following day which was about 25 minutes drive away. All the staff were very pleasant & friendly.
Numerous cobwebs in our room and carpet was very stained. Continental breakfast was very sparse
