The owners were lovely and welcoming, the property was clean, and breakfast was cooked and ready on time. I appreciated their hospitality.
However, the accommodation itself was disappointing for £120 per night. The room felt very small, and the bed was too short for me, with my feet hanging over the end. The shared toilet was also cramped, and having to check whether it was available or wait to use the shared bathroom for a shower or bath made the stay less comfortable.
For me, it felt more like renting a room in someone’s home than the comfortable getaway I had hoped for. At this price, I expected more comfort and privacy. If a hotel room with a private bathroom were available for an extra £20–£30, I would personally choose that.
The hosts were genuinely nice, but this type of accommodation wasn’t right for me. In future, a room with shared facilities would be my last option.
The owners were lovely and welcoming, the property was clean, and breakfast was cooked and ready on time. My disappointment was with the accommodation and how it appeared on Booking.com.
The photos and advertising gave me the impression that I was booking a private, studio-style space with an attached bathroom and toilet. In reality, it was a room in the owners’ home with shared bathroom and toilet facilities. I felt this distinction needed to be much clearer in the listing.
The bedroom was very small, and the bed was too short for me, with my feet hanging over the end. The shared toilet was also cramped. Having to check whether the toilet was free and wait to use the bathroom for a shower or bath meant the stay lacked the privacy and comfort I expected.
At £120 per night, I did not feel it offered good value for my needs. If a hotel room with a private bathroom were available for an extra £20–£30, I would personally choose that.
This accommodation may suit a solo traveller who is comfortable sharing facilities with the owners, but it was not right for me. Although I appreciated the hosts’ kindness, I would only consider this type of accommodation as a last option in future.
