I’ve stayed in a lot of hostels. Galway City Hostel is the BEST. Free breakfast and a long community table where everyone sits together and shares stories. Plus a €5 dinner if you want to eat in house.

I loved the nightly pub crawls, free breakfasts and amazing staff. Tom was such a great cook and a friend to us all, as soon as you walked into the door. Lia was very friendly and welcoming as well. Everything was also very clean!

The location is excellent - very central, just off Eyre Square, opposite the 'bus area'. The hostel was very clean. The bed was comfortable with curtains for privacy - very important. Staff were very good and friendly and I really appreciate a staff member reserving a bottom bunk for me - much appreciated. Shower and bathroom area is very good - powerful showers and comfortable space. The common/kitchen area looks really nice - unfortunately I didn't have breakfast as it seemed a bit crowded, claustrophobic, and chaotic when I was checking out!
It did seem a bit small, but this is totally understandable given its central location. I noticed that the 'locker' under my bed didn't work as it was not possible to roll it out due to the position of the adjacent bed. I didn't need to use it, however, as I was there just one night.

• Super convenient location—right across from the train station.
• Shared bathrooms were very clean, staff cleaned them every hour.
• Breakfast was basic but included, which is nice.
• Staff are often described as very friendly, but I didn’t really feel that myself.
• WiFi didn’t work during my two-night stay, so I had to rely on data.
• Beds are quite small, and if you choose the bottom bunk you can’t sit up without hitting your head.
