Location in the Cotswolds, easy to get to other towns. Loved the beautiful outdoor area plus covered terrace for the restaurant. The room was furnished in a lovely way with bathrobes plus chargeable mini bar and snack selection. It also had a large Dyson fan which came in handy. There was complementary water, cookies, tea, and coffee and also an alcoholic nightcap (unsure what it was as I didn’t try) but all lovely touches.
The drain from the bathroom was very smelly. I bought a candle which the staff said I couldn’t light for safety reasons – fair enough. They came and put drain cleaner down the drain but it continued to smell quite strongly which crept into the bedroom. Quite unpleasant though they did absorb the cost of a small bottle of wine from the minibar to compensate. There was an issue with the side table lamps which once turned, would immediately dim so much that I couldn’t read my book, so I had to have the main overhead light on. I mentioned both items to the staff, so hopefully they can fix for the next guest. The mattress could use a topper to give it a more plush feel as you could feel the outline of the mattress trim through the sheet. Also, the tray that sits across the bath was too small and kept falling in so wasn’t usable. These seem like minor issues, but for the price of the room (£220 for one night) in my opinion, they should be remedied.

All the meals we ate and the bed were the highlights The building itself was very charming and authentic
Parking was tricky and quite a bit of noise from the 1st floor

The room was nice - smaller than described though and not worth the price we paid. We arrived at 3pm Sunday 20th - room not ready - so we popped out and looked around. We did phone the day before Saturday 19th at 3.30pm and left an answerphone message to say we wanted to book Sunday lunch - unfortuneately - no-one phoned us back as promised - so we didn't get Sunday lunch. Put us on a bad footing. Comfortable bed. Some road noise. It was our wedding anniversary!
The breakfast was terrible. I staff member who looked like she was about to burst into tears. We waited ages to get served - most of it was self-serve. We asked for tea - got a teapot - but had to ask again for milk 10 minutes later. We ordered full English and got that - but cold beans - cold mushrooms - cold poached egg - served on cold plates - we complained along with others and got the breakfast knocked off. 14 people were down for breakfast at that time. plenty of complaints. Americans giving food back. Male staff member I spoke to said it's like it every day! Carpark full - so car was parked on the road with anti-theft device.
