What a fantastic little gem in the heart of Bowness-on-Windermere!
My partner and I stayed at Virginia Cottage over the weekend, and we couldn't have been happier with our experience.
From the moment we arrived, Angus and Sherry were incredibly welcoming, friendly and attentive. Nothing seemed too much trouble, and they were full of useful information and recommendations about places to visit and things to do in the surrounding area. You can genuinely tell they care about their guests and want everyone to enjoy their stay.
Another lovely touch is just how dog-friendly the place is. Sherry clearly adores dogs, which makes it a brilliant choice for anyone travelling with their four-legged companions. She likes to keep a book of photos of all dogs who stay there as a memento. We were happy to oblige and our dog Milo now has a permanent place here! Sherry even recommended where we could get him coat due to the wet weather.
Our room was lovely, cosy and comfortable, with fantastic views across the town and towards the beautiful scenery surrounding Lake Windermere. Being able to look out of the window and take in those views was a real bonus.
The location is excellent, the atmosphere is warm and welcoming, and the personal touches really make this place stand out.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and wouldn't hesitate to return. If you're looking for somewhere cosy, friendly and full of character in Bowness-on-Windermere, we'd highly recommend Virginia Cottage.
