This is a great place to stay. It's easy to get to from the airport by bus (Bus EA to Santa Justa, €6, then an easy 15 minute walk). It's a quick walk into the centre and plenty going on nearby and I felt safe walking around the little roads in the dark on my own.
The hostel is gorgeous, quirky and rustic. The owner is lovely and friendly.
I had room 1 which was really spacious and had everything I needed, even coat hooks! My room had a little balcony onto the side road so it was nice to be able to keep the doors open all day. Other rooms have internal windows. I put earplugs in at night and didn't hear anything!
There was very little that I thought needed improving, just the shower and bedding.
The shower head position was a bit odd so I kept accidentally turning it off mid shower. It was hot and powerful enough though. I think if the room hasn't been used for a bit the water takes a while to heat up on the first day, so be patient!
The bedding was a bit unusual. The bed had two square pillows with two sofa cushions underneath which was fine for me on my own but probably not comfortable if sharing the bed. The bedspread was really heavy so kept sliding off. I'm not a fan of memory foam mattress toppers either, but it was all comfortable for one, but you might be fighting over covers and pillows with two people.

The staff were very friendly and welcoming. It was very conveniently situated and generally very good. Room and bed were very clean and comfy with very effective air conditioner.
My only real disappointment was the roof terrace wasn’t available, which was one of the main reasons I booked this place. It was apparently having ‘construction’ work done, but TBH there didn’t seem to be any going on. Do think if something isn’t available then it should be either removed from facilities or flagged it is temporarily closed.
