8 / 10Excellent·Oct 2026
Peaceful location, lovely grounds, half elegant half quirky, roaring fire, fantastic smokies for breakfast.
Some older furniture overdue a little TLC, dinner was ok but not great.

Nothing!
10 / 10Outstanding·Oct 2026
Everything - this is exactly what we’ve been looking for in a hotel! Absolutely dripping in character, spectacular lounge with rooms in a gallery and showpiece staircase. Lovely bedrooms, dining rooms and beautiful garden. Xhosa and her staff are charming and welcoming. We can hardly wait to return!
Shower pressure on first floor not ideal but this is a period property and hardly a major issue!
6 / 10Average·Oct 2026
Attentive staff. Breakfast was fairly good.
For cost evening meal was average, beef was tough for fillet. Rooms dated, cold on arrival.
