Lovely hotel and position, good spa and aqua centre, Food and drink were on the whole good apart from one issue below! Friday nights food was really good!
Saturday evening in the restaurant Lobster on the menu, we weren't told it wasn't available? But after ordering was told it was not available! It was my wife Alison's birthday, then she ordered the chicken, but could not eat it because the sauce was so salty and the mash that came with it was a mush mixed in with the sauce, it spoilt the whole evening. I had the rib eye steak, at £50.00 which was cooked ok, but for £50.00 i was very u derwelmed. It was small and thin.

We decided upon this hotel for its location, perfect, plus my husband had a desire to stay on the headland. The room itself was spacious and as expected. We had breakfast in this hotel, it was a partial help yourself and order anything cooked. The selection available was fairly standard. The furnishings in the room are luxurious, it clearly has been updated in some ways.
Upon arrival walking into the reception around 4pm on a Friday afternoon, the smell of food was overpowering. It smelt of smoked fish. Upon reflection this may have been due to a very smokey fire that I later discovered. The regimented furniture stood to attention along the side walls of 'the ballroom'. Allowing staff to move freely through the area, so freely it was difficult to obtain any service for a drink. Eventually my husband walked through the closed restaurant to a group of staff chatting at the bar and ordered drinks, giving our room number. It was a comedy of errors, three times we had to give our room number to different staff, finally receiving a slip to sign IN PENCIL for the drinks urghhh. We tried again the following day, it took two members of staff to deliver the order this time, an improvement. Sadly a couple opposite us were also having difficulties as the bubbly arrived at their table, the man had ordered it for their room. It's reassuring to know it was not just us. We had been given vouchers for two drinks, we didn't even use them as the task of getting a drink was not favourable. We had wanted to dine in the hotel on the Saturday evening but no tables in the evening were available. The staff at breakfast time basically seemed to have a rule of clearing the tables before you had finished, or delivered the cooked breakfast and hover next to the table trying to take everything else, without a word of ''shall I clear these for you?" Rude, lack of training and guidance. Breads are basic sliced loaves (no luxury here). We found some of the staff rather nonchalant. As our room had a partial seaview, we could see directly into the pool/spa area. I was looking forward to using this. To walk into reception out of the main front doors, across an open gritted car park in flip flops and a robe firstly was not appealing. Secondly the area seemed rather busy the whole time.
