House of a thousand air freshners!!

The owners had clearly tried to make this house a lovely place. Decor was good and the facilities were brilliant. Close to amenities such a shame the building is letting them down.

Smelled of damp and dirty carpets. Demolition of surrounding buildings and bad subsidence to this house. Staircase was on a slant.

The house is riddled with damp, and I have asthma. It’s at the side of derelict buildings, probably contributing to damp.

Location

From the moment we entered the door, we were welcomed with the smell of mould / damp. Upon further inspection found dead flies in nearly every single room, not just one or two dead flies - im talking lots of dead flies. Sent a video to the owner straight away who said they could send cleaner tomo :/ Not good enough considering we have a 4 month old and 11 year old with asthma, so we rang Booking.com who seemed like they were going to be helpful and agreed that we shouldn't be put in such a sh**hole. They said they would allow the property owner 30 mins to do something about it otherwise they would move us to another accommodation- what will they do about the smell of damp and mould? Spray air freshener on top of that so my kids can breathe that in aswell?? Bearing in mind its now 10pm and we have driven 6 hours we are still waiting for a call from booking.com. We dont get any calls or emails back from them. We decide to stay at the house and look for a b and b the next day as we were all tired. Overnight, booking.com put £48 credit into my account to spend with them as an apology. I was straight on the phone and said its not good enough, we need to be moved- same time the property owner is ringing to send the cleaner to clean the dead flies?? We aint just going to leave the dead flies and walk all over them are we, we have obviously cleaned them up by the next day... In the end I had to take my kids and stay in another b and b while the rest of my family stay here for another night. Booking.com have been no help whatsoever and feel like its up to the owner even though we booked through them. Got back home, now my 4 month old is sick. The credit that booking.com has magically disappeared and they say someone has booked a flight with it??? Ive never booked a flight with them in my life... and they won't answer to any emails.

Really nice place, great location for pleasure beach. Our group has stayed here three of 4 times as it makes a great base for us for the weekend. It’s clean and modern and well equipped

Only issue is that it’s really cold on arrival. Could do with the heating being turned on an hour or 2 before in winter.
