About this lodge
Welcome to the Mickelson Trail Lodge
Custom built lodge with 6 bedrooms, 6 1/2 bathrooms, fully equipped kitchen, dining room, screened porch with 20’ cathedral ceiling. Log covered patio with mammoth wood burning fireplace, private swimming pool and gardens, and featuring a unique hot tub with spectacular views of the valley. (Hot Tubs are not available during the months of January & February).
The pool is open Memorial Weekend-Labor Day weekend. (weather permitting).
We only allow 1 dog per cabin. We don't allow any other type of animals. Dogs must be less than 20 lbs. Dogs must be on leash when walking around the property, please clean up after your dog as well! If there’s evidence of excessive dog hair in the cabin. There’ll be an additional $300 charge. Please bring a kennel for the dog, so they are not loose in the cabin. Dogs are not allowed on any type of furniture or bedding.
There is absolutely No smoking/Vaping anywhere in this cabin. If we find any trace of smoking/Vaping anywhere in the cabin, there will be a $300 fee.
Located in the Heart of the Hills, just minutes away from Mount Rushmore, Crazy Horse, Custer State Park, and all major Black Hills attractions.
We have 24 Hour Security Cameras on Property.
Disclaimer: Cell phone & Wi-Fi reception is very limited. Also, there is no washer/Dryer unit available at this cabin.

The cabin itself is beautiful and is in an excellent location to everything you would want to do in and around the Black hills. The host had excellent communication. Unfortunately the hot tub was out of commission for the duration of our stay. The Host remedied this by providing free firewood for the week. (It's up for debate amongst my family members if that remedy was sufficient enough or if money back would have been better) My only real complaint about the property is that all the bedding is REALLY old and there's no shade covering on the pergola next to the pool. We paid a little more than 10,000 for a weeks stay and for that amount of money I would expect pillows that aren't flat as pancakes and bedding that's newer. It would be a vast improvement to this beautiful cabin if the host would purchase some new sheets, blankets, pillows and a shade covering for the pergola. I really hate to make a complaint, but I think for most people 10,000 is not a drop in the bucket and it's no different for me and my family. I don't think it's unreasonable that when you spend that kind of money, you should expect the bedding to be new. I have no doubt that the the bedding that we slept on had been washed, but it probably has been washed about a thousand times lol

A beautiful property close to many sites.We loved the outside fireplace, swimming pool, and definitely, appreciated all the bathrooms. We utilized the 2 refrigerators and kitchen, and barbequed the last evening. Communication was exceptional with Larry. There were 8 of us for a family reunion. I highly recommend this place.

For our family reunion we wanted a place where we could go explore various attractions during the day and gather for a family dinner prepared in our kitchen by family members followed by games and great conversations around the amazing fireplace. This lodge has a hot tub and a HEATED pool. Seven bedrooms/ and I think 10 beds. Plenty of room for the 17 of us. This property is close to Mt Rushmore, the Needles, Sylvan Lake all in Custer State Park. Some enjoyed hikes, others the Hill City and Custer shopping and eateries. The host was on site often and very helpful. Absolutely a great choice- 5 stars!!

Visited the Hill City area to ATV. This cabin is the perfect location to stay with easy access to the trails. They have plenty of parking for large groups and plenty of space for everyone to stay.
