Disappointing and Dirty

Studio apartment is located in the Alfama quaters, there few restaurants nearby and a nice bakery few steps away.

When I arrived outside the studio there was a strong smell of urine, to my surprised I noticed that the public toilets were just adjacent to the property. Despite a couple of windows, inside the property it is very dark and I needed to have the light on the whole time, which wasn't ideal as the entrance door had windows with no curtains, only barely frosted glass. When I went to bed the first night, I started feeling itchy. I checked under the sheet and to my horror I saw that the matress cover had lots of hair and didn't look clean at all. Under the mattress cover was even worst. There were two matressess and the thin one at the top and lots of stains (one quite big) and more hair and what it looked like breadcrumbs of some sort. I had to remove the top mattress and I slept for the whole duration of the stay over the duvet cover in the hope that at least that was clean. I contacted one the owners who said he would have contacted the cleaning company to disinfect the mattress. They only took away the filthy thin mattress, left the dirty mattress cover on and remade the bed. The shower is also an issue, you can't really regulate the temperature. It is either schorching hot or too cold, and it drips all the time. I should have checked the bad reviews before booking!

A rose on a steep Lisbon vegetable garden.

PRO-TIP: If you want to hire UBER I recommend walking down the street for a couple hundred meters to plaza across from MUESO DO FADO. You can also hire Tuk-Tuks and Golf carts to zip you through the narrow and winding streets. It could save you from slipping on the stone pathways. Even though I had excellent hiking shoes and am a capable hiker, I slipped and crashed on the wet stones. Other than that; not being accessible via UBER,and having to carry two heavy bags a couple hundred meters up a steep, narrow, stone road; the facility, itself was very good albeit about the same interior space as an Inside Cabin on a cruise liner. It is more of a Short-term rental rather than a traditional hotel or B&B. It is well equipped for a Short-Term rental. However, I have no use of such equipment. I never met the hosts, nor any staff. Which I typically depend upon for guidance to the best places to dine, tours to catch, events, etc. Nonetheless, the immediate neighborhood is loaded with AWESOME BAKERIES, FADO, restaurants, a Fish monger, you name it!! And that is all within a tee-shot from the apartment. If you have wheels, Lisbon is a Foodie Paradise!!!! All in all, it was a good stay. I can see an overall score of “9” being appropriate!

Alfama’da, ihtiyaç duyabileceğiniz çoğu yere yürüme mesafesinde bir konumdadır. Zaten Alfama bölgesinde yürüme hariç ulaşım çok zor, dar sokakları olduğu için. Seyir teraslarına, fado performanslarının sergilendiği restorantlara yakındı. Lizbonun tarihi ambiyansını yaşamak istiyorsanız burada kalabilirsiniz

Zemin kat ve sokaktan direkt giriş olduğu için çok gürültü geliyordu, daireyi havalandırmak zordu, yan tarafa açılan iki küçük pencere var, fakat yan tarafta umumi tuvalet yazan bir yer var, sanırım kapalı ama, bu durum insana hoş duygu yaşatmıyor. Banyodaki fıskiye kenarından su kaçırıyor, sıcak ve soğuk ayarlarken extra sıkıntı oluyor. Pencereler kapalıyken de ortam fazla havasız oluyor, nefessiz kalıyor insan. Klima hayat kurtarıcıydı
