Outstanding value for money. Clean, comfortable, warm room with tea/coffee making facilities - good, effective black-out curtains. Great en-suite with fantastic hot shower. Nice bar with good variety of beers/cider/spirits - all fairly priced. Amazing staff - all very friendly and helpful. Friendly local punters - make you feel 'at home' and relaxed.
No complaints ... everything I needed for a relaxing stay, at a very fair price. Have already booked a return visit next year.

Cleanliness matters a great deal to me when I choose somewhere to stay, and The Shoes B&B truly exceeded my expectations. The sheets, pillows and duvet were all immaculately clean and smelled wonderfully fresh. The staff were very friendly and made me feel welcome throughout my stay. The location is excellent too, so I really can’t fault it. I’d happily stay here again on my next visit to Durham.
nothing really.

Not too far from the centre and although it was an uphill walk home. There was a bus service outside. Good parking at the side of the hotel. Room was small but adequate.
A great deal of steep stairs to room 3 which would be a problem to a person with mobility issues. Shower and toilet located over the landing in view of room 2. Asked if we could book breakfast when we arrived at 12 for the next day and this was a problem although there were other guests having breakfast. She advised us where the nearest MacDonald ect were located. Rooms furniture and bed linen were shabby and required updating.
