We had booked this accommodation because we wanted one chateau-like experience and this one fitted our budget. It did not disappoint. This is an absolute treasure. From the start we were welcomed by Jeff who accommodated our pigeon French and told us that for the three days we stayed, the monastery was our home and we could go everywhere. We thoroughly enjoyed exploring the property and learning about its history accompanied by the excellent booklet provided upon our arrival. It was a bonus having the self catering kitchen area which was appreciably well stocked with tea and coffee making facilities as well as a fridge, microwave and a good range of kitchen utensils. Breakfast was generous with fresh croissants, bread, fruit, yogurt, cheese, freshly squeezed orange juice and fresh coffee on offer. The monastery was well located for exploring the beautiful nearby village of Sancerre and for walking various tracks around the village (including the remains of a Roman aqueduct) and in the forest near the monastery. It was also only a half hour drive to the outstanding Castle Chenanceau.

Breakfast was very good… yoghurt, goats cheese, fruit bread, croissants, jam coffee and tea. Room had rustic charm comfy bed and lovely white bed linen and towels. Communal kitchen area with microwave, fridge freezer, sink, tea and coffee. facilities and a sitting room. Lots of historical points of interest too. Jeff & Jules were perfect hosts.
