Not 2 beds as advertised. Even after specifying upon booking and following up with messages asking if we can use the sof

Location was good. Bedroom was good.

This place was advertised as a 2 bed place and references a sofa bed that comes with the property. That was it. I had to specify upon booking how many people were in the booking and I requested as I quote; “2 people, are we able to have one on the sofa bed please?” This was ignored. I assumed all good coz booking got accepted but I messaged again shortly before showing up and they confirmed “HI Harrison, Yes the unit comes with a sofa bed.” We arrived today and the sofa bed was just a sofa, the guy checking us in then said we needed to pay $30 per night for them to “set up the sofa bed”. I showed him the booking.com advert that says 2 beds aswell as the messages them not saying it’s extra for them to “set up” the sofa bed, he just kept saying “no”. They kept showing a random WhatsApp message to other “customers” as proof that I need to pay this. There was some argument at one point coz we’re only two people then we’re supposed to Share the Queen bed and it’s only for more than 2 people can you use the sofa bed? He kept trying to get on my phone to show me this on booking.com and couldn’t. He phoned who I assumed was the manager who then let them provide a sheet for “free”, that is them “setting up the bed”, no pillow or anything just a duvet sheet for me to cover myself on the sofa. After they provided the sheet he was saying he needed $100 SGD from us in deposit. Again I said this is shown nowehere in the advert not was it communicated to us, it’s not in the confirmation email but now their listing was updated to include it. Again he wanted to show us WhatsApp messages as proof but we said that’s not what’s in the agreement at least we have signed up to. Again, he got on my phone and looked at my booking, as well as trying to look at the listing of their property and couldn’t find it.

Unusual room layout, kitchenette is in open hallway between lounge and bedroom (both sep aircon)

Not available

The "unwelcome" welcome. There is no reception area. Intercom used to hail nearby personnel who walked in off street and then struggled to find my booking on a tablet. I was made to stand outside on balcony while they found my booking. Even when I handed them the Booking.com details, and after handing it back, they still asked how my booking was made. The fellow that showed me the apartment still had dried paint on his hands! The improvised renovations. The toilet positioned next to hand basin is impractical - too close. The hand basin plumbing leaks water onto floor. The open air kitchenette would be stifling in hot humid weather. Weather was mild during my stay luckily
