This newly constructed walkout apartment is just a few feet from the enchanting sounds and solitude of Spring Creek. Huge front windows provide great light and visibility of the creek, willows, scenic bridge, pine trees and surrounding mountains. It does not seem like you are on a lower level. Good internet and cell service is available. Very open floor plan in the round makes for great family space accented by the natural pinewood bar and autumn gold slate gas fireplace. Located three miles south of charming Hill City, guests are only a short stroll from the Mickelson Trail, 15 minutes from Mount Rushmore and Sylvan Lake, 10 minutes from Custer, 30 minutes from Rapid City, and less than one hour from Deadwood and the winter sports areas near Lead.

This is a spacious fully furnished walkout apartment with huge windows and a large private patio where the gurgling brook, meadow, and scenic pines invite exploration. Deer, turkeys, and chipmunks are frequent visitors. The creek has catchable rainbow trout.

This circular shaped structure is a "Mandala" kit home and fits into this alpine hillside beautifully. The cozy furnishings and natural Black Hills slate gas fireplace will help you relax after a day enjoying the historic sites and unforgettable adventures which abound in the Black Hills of South Dakota.
The master bedroom has a comfortable queen bed and a direct opening to the patio. The second bedroom also has an excellent queen size bed.

The activities available are beyond description but some of our favorites include:
Biking and hiking on the Mickelson Trail
Eating at the Alpine Inn in Hill City, Skogen Kitchen in Custer.
Hiking to the top of Black Elk Peak (tallest peak between the Rockies and the Alps)
Fishing
Historic sites galore- Mt. Rushmore, Crazy Horse, Deadwood, Wind Cave National Park, Jewel Cave, Badlands National Park, Pine Ridge and Wounded Knee, The Open Cut at Homestake Gold Mine in Lead, etc.
Swimming at Sheridan, Sylvan, Pactola Lakes, Cascade Falls, Hippy Hole, Angostura Reservoir
Devil's Tower
1880 Train
Black Hills Geologic Institute
Lost Cabin Brewery
Centennial Hiking Trail
Picnics anywhere
Wine on the patio and watch the sunset
Look for satellites in the incredibly bejeweled starry heavens
Exploring the art galleries
The wildflowers
Horseback trail rides
Chuckwagon rides and suppers
Rock climbing with Sylvan Rocks
And the list goes on...

We would love to share our prized piece of these amazing Black Hills!

Location was perfect for exploring Mt. Rushmore, Bear Country, reptile Gardens, Wildlife Loop Road, Jewel Cave and Sylvan Lake! The oroperty was very clean and well stocked with a grill, lots and pans and dishes. Check in extremely smooth and proactive. We appreciated that there was laundry soap available. Small thing but it’s nice to not have to buy a huge pack for a load or two of laundry. We were staying during a heat wave and it was 106 during the day and still 84 during the evenings. We spent all day out and came back in the evenings and it was still cool enough inside the house to be comfortable, (probably around 73 degrees). Especially with the high powered fans in the bedroom! Our kids loved exploring the little yard and bridge and looking for the 3 resident marmots and 2 bunnies. Highly recommend!

The owner was kind and was easy to communicate with. The property was clean. The downside to this property is how close it is to the highway and the noise of the cars. Additionally, there was someone staying upstairs and we could hear every footstep. This made sleeping past 7am difficult and didn't make it feel very private. I hate leaving a negative review. Our stay just wasn't as relaxed and comfortable because of these issues.
