Hotel Anticos Palathos

A charming heritage accommodation centrally located in Orosei. It appears as just a door on the street but inside it is quite delightful. Old fashioned traditional in decor. ‘Authentic’. Andrea checked us in, gave us lemon water, carried our bags up the one floor to our room ‘Corallo’, and later provided us with detailed information on local restaurants and places of interest on our next stops. Our large room had a non-working but picturesque fireplace, comfortable queen bed, original tile floor, traditional furniture including a leather couch; AC, safe, mini fridge, TV, walk-in tiled shower with tiled bench seat, sun shower. Good bathroom, but not seniors friendly because of a big step up into the shower. Ditto the somewhat difficult steps up to the first floor. However, staff offered to carry our bags up and down the one floor to our room. Breakfast was an extensive buffet with pretty much everything you could want. Even cactus fruit. The hotel had once included a restaurant, so there was ample seating in various alcoves and rooms including an outdoor area. Parking was available on the street not far from the hotel. We were there in shoulder season, so that might not always be the case. Two excellent trattorias were within spitting distance.

Shower entry and exit was difficult for one of us.

We love this hotel. Second time this year we have stayed and both times it was spectacular. The service of the hotel staff is really outstanding. We really have to commend Andrea, one of the lead staff members, he has so many helpful recommendations, advice and insightful knowledge about hidden gems in the local area. The breakfast is nice, in a beautiful setting, as the hotel itself is very very historic and the bedrooms, shower and sun terrace are really lovely. Definitely one of the most beautiful hotels we have ever stayed in.

It was perfect. Really grateful for the hotel's mosquito deterrent device in the bedroom - it was quite hot in September/October so there were a lot of mosquitoes in the town. Be careful not to get bitten at breakfast when sat outside - guests should try to use spray/ bug repellent roll on to ensure they don't get bitten too much in Sardinia!

It was close to everything we needed. Restaurants and shops. The night market was a nice experience to attend daily.

The parking is tricky if you have a car. It’s a little ways walk.
