Accommodation in Madrid is expensive. Knowing this we decided on a lower grade studio than we have become used to the past few years. Saying that, we were very pleasantly surprised on how spacious and comfortable the studio turned out to be!
The instructions on where to collect the keys were very simple, and we received a message to tell us the studio was ready about 1.5 hours before the stated check in time. Mohammed at check in was very helpful.
The location is excellent, just a few minutes from the Gran Via, and facing the courtyard meant no noise from traffic or passersby.
The bed had plenty of room on both sides, meaning no clambering over, the mattress was firm (no springs!), and on top of it, the roll down blinds meant we had excellent sleep quality.
We travel very very lightly, so the hanging and shelf space was enough for us.
Kitchenette suited our needs perfectly, at last I learnt how to use an induction hob - the housekeeper kindly showed me how to switch it on and off! Plenty of washing soap.
The bathroom was well fitted out, plenty of liquid soap and toilet paper. When we requested fresh towels on the 4th day, we were immediately told the housekeeper would bring them, but my husband nipped down to collect them.
A couple of supermarkets about 50 metres from the studio, as well as self service laundries. As the weather was cold, we dried all our cothes in one of them after using the excellent washing machine in the studio.
We were aware that the elevator only started on the first floor, but the stairs did not give us (80 and 76) any problems, even with my bad knees.
The shower doors don't close 100 percent, but then we have similar ones at home which also do not close properly.
The top shelf in the kitchenette was too high for us to reach (we are normal height), so I can't say if there was a cutting board, colander or anything else there which we would have used.
Catch 22 - sleeping with just the sheet was not enough, but the duvet was too hot for us, so we used the airconditioner a few nights. It would have been nice to have had a thin blanket, but this is a personal thing - most people would be happy to use the duvet.
Only real complaint is that the parquet flooring is warped in places and one has to be careful not to trip.
I highly recommend the studio for those who want location over luxury, good nights' sleep over a fancy view and being able to walk everywhere.

The location was amazing, we were right in the center of the city. The fact that we could come back several times during the day to take breaks or drop off our shopping as we explored was very convenient. The place was clean and they even left me a mop and broom as I requested. It had all the essentials and we were able to do our laundry and dry it on the rack outside the window.
Nothing. I thought I got exactly what I paid for and I loved everything about it. Would definitely stay again and would recommend.
