There was not enough toilet paper provided. We were given a small roll that was already about a quarter used and nearly finished, even though we had booked a two-day stay. It was unreasonable to expect guests to use a partially used roll for the entire duration of their stay.
The kettle provided for making tea was not clean. After requesting a replacement, we were given a second kettle, but it was also dirty on the inside. In addition, there was no bath mat available to use when stepping out of the shower.
When we checked in, we were told that the price we paid included breakfast. However, upon arrival, we were informed that breakfast was not included. A female staff member explained that breakfast was only available to guests who had paid around R600 per night, while those who paid around R500 per night were not entitled to breakfast. We pointed out that we had in fact paid over R600 per night and that breakfast had been advertised as included in our booking.
The explanation then changed, and we were told that we should have paid over R700 per night to qualify for breakfast. We were also informed that breakfast was not served on weekends. Unfortunately, this was communicated in a harsh and dismissive manner, making it feel as though we were simply expected to accept the situation without any further discussion.
I believe the female staff member could have handled the matter more professionally and courteously. Even if breakfast was unavailable, the situation could have been explained in a polite and respectful way.
