Disaster

There was nothing I liked about the accomodation. All my sentiments are on the ''What didn't you like'' section below. I have never given a review as bad as this but feel it is totally justified.

Everything. I had booked and paid for a flat in Chinon (non refundable) However my partner fancied staying in Richelieu so we booked Camping Le Cardinal. I was under the impression I'd booked a chalet with a pool, but was sadly mistaken. We arrived as planned at 4pm to find no staff on site and no way of entering the site as barriers were down, after spending 30 minutes phoning without an answer and searching the site a lady turned up at reception, gave me a barrier pass and the key to our abode. The accomodation wasn't a chalet with a pool it was a plastic shack with no shower and no toilet in otherwords no more than a plastic box, it was horrendously hot inside, my partner passed out in the heat, we made a quick exit and made use of the flat I had thankfully also booked 30 minutes away in Chinon. Luckily the Chinon flat was lovely, it was clean cool and spacious with a lovely kitchen, living room and ensuite all for a simmilar price to Camping Le Cardinals plastic sweat box. The Camping Le Cardinal cost at circa £85.00 English was daylight robbery, I cannot imagine that anyone has actually spent a night in one of these cells and enjoyed it. If I was offered 1000 Euros to stay for a night I would refuse. Conversely the chalets on site with their private pools would probably be a reasonable option if you could put up with the rude and extremely late receptioniost

Very helpfull. Nice pool. Quite

Uncomfy pillows and matress

Not worth the price point.

Pool is okay but closes at 7?! It was passably clean but that'd obviously been done by previous guests. Showers and toilets clean and well maintained, if dated. Would have been nice to have a guide for Richelieu as the town looks interesting...

Not happy with €280 deposit for a two night stay. Expected to leave the place cleaner than we found it with children's toys left in the kitchen unit and rubbish under one of the beds. It would seem they rely on you wanting the refund of your deposit so badly that they then don't bother to clean themselves! 10am checkout far too early, to then be asked the night before whether we'd be earlier. Overall meant that after waking up on the last day we worked like hell to clean the place before waiting around to have it all inspected by the manager, even down to the items of cutlery left. If I was in the habit of stealing forks and spoons maybe I'd understand. Pitches tiny, and with hedges 10ft tall it felt very enclosed. Provided a gas cooker but wanted more money for a gas cartridge!?

Camping la Cardinal

Clean, comfortable, private and staying in a coco pod was a new and enjoyable stay. Close Proximity to toilets, showers and pool was very convenient and enhanced the experience.

Very little!
