Riad Alnadine

The riad was lovely, spotlessly clean, smelt gorgeous, comfy big bed. Beautifully decorated with authentic Moroccan culture. Breakfast was lovely and we loved the Moroccan tea which is available whenever you want. The staff could not have been more helpful, they really go above and beyond, there was nothing they didn’t try to assist with. You can also book taxis (in advance upon arrival ideally) through the riad which is helpful and then pay when you settle your final bill. I don’t have any complaints what so ever about the actual riad, it was lovely and really reasonably priced.

The riad is described as being “in the heart of the medina” and it absolutely is. Unfortunately I didn’t love the medina and didn’t anticipate what it would be like which is my own fault completely. Next time due to this if I came back I’d stay in the new town, the medina is so busy and chaotic. It does give you a true feel of authentic Moroccan life in the medina though.

I had a wonderful stay at Riad Alnadine! Simo and Nazi were incredibly welcoming, kind and helpful. They provided a detailed map of Marrakech, gave great recommendations and were always responsive whenever I needed assistance. The riad was beautiful, peaceful, clean and well maintained. It genuinely felt like a home away from home, and as a solo female traveller, I felt very comfortable and safe. The breakfast was lovely too!

Although check-in was at 3 PM, we arrived at the riad at 5 PM and there was no one there. We stayed at the riad alone that evening, without any staff. We were given the key to the main entrance, and then they left. Secondly, I had paid €104.33 online through my Booking.com reservation. The total amount due was shown as 110.33 TL. Although €6 of this was supposed to be paid at the property, the property demanded €12 from me. Even after showing them my Booking.com reservation and the amount I needed to pay, they weren't convinced. After a long discussion, they refused to persuade me, so I had to make the payment. Then, because they didn't have Euro change, they demanded 150 dirhams. However, €12 didn't equal 150 dirhams, and they demanded even more. After explaining this at length and calculating the amount based on the exchange rate, they finally agreed to take 126 dirhams. The property not only demanded more than the amount stated in the reservation but also, to make matters worse, wanted to charge an excessive amount for the Euro equivalent in dirhams. Finally, on the second day, we mentioned that we needed to leave early, and they said they could prepare bananas and other non-hot items for breakfast. However, when we woke up in the morning, there were only pre-packaged ready-made meals. I spoke to a staff member and asked for bread and at least cheese, but the answer was a refusal; they said they couldn't provide any.
