This was the best hotel we stayed in whilst in India and by far the most expensive, but we wished to have 3 days of comfort at the end of the long travelling holiday. We got that.
Breakfast was great. Food in the Spice Restaurant was fabulous. Food in the Canteen buffet was also great, but it did feel like a canteen.
It is a great hotel, but you pay for it. Management needs a bit of a kick to improve some of the staff, especially on the front desk. The staff in the breakfast, restaurants and pool were all fantastic.
Much about the hotel was excellent, but having stayed at Taj hotels before, I think some other staff let the place down.
We tried to check in early, but we had to wait and they said it wouldn't be long. In the end it was about 1 hour, if we had known that at the beginning, we would have gone to the pool.
We were not shown around the hotel, so didn't know of the various restaurants.
The fridge in the room wasn't working, so the tonic for the gin was warm - they did fix it.
The iron in the room didn't work, not something many staying at the Taj would use, but living out of a small suitcase for 3 weeks meant our clothes were creased. I had to chase 3 times before they finally gave me one that worked.
I would like to commend Raj in the gym. But the person who took yoga put us in Asanas that have gone out of favour as are not good for the knees. Please if doing sun/moon salutations, do the new ones not the original.
My biggest complaint is with the concierge. He was useless. Fine if you wanted to hire a hotel car (which was astronomically expensive) but unlike all other concierge's I have been to - there was no help booking things, such as tours in Delhi. He was a total waste of space, hardly worthy of being called a concierge.

For such a highly recommended hotel and the price I was disappointed. Shower basin was filled quickly with water leaking outside. Breakfast was disappointing. There were a lot of variety but coffee was not good and almond croissants not good. No idea what the Indian food was. Do not sure all international visitors are familiar with Indian food.
