Escape from Oceanside

View was amazing, close to the beach but far enough away the foot traffic wasn't distracting. Plenty of room for our group of 5, even without using the studio downstairs. I appreciated the informational paperwork in the entrance, riptide information and other things, though the house was last inspected in 2011 according to the papers

The wood theme was an interesting esthetic choice and caught my eye when looking at nearby listings, but the reality with it is that everyone can hear your footsteps, or even when you just roll over in bed, from anywhere in the house. There were a few boards beginning to break under the upstairs loft, and while the owners ask you to take off your shoes you're constantly in danger of getting splinters from every surface. The house had a homemade feel. There was no fan over the upstairs kitchen, but there were cobwebs over where we were cooking. As a matter of fact, there were light cobwebs around most of the house. There was also black mold growing along the window seals of several of the windows. When we messaged the property letting them know we had people with asthma and allergies in our group they were apologetic but made no effort to try and improve the situation during our stay, promising only to fix it in the future. When we also mentioned there had been issues with the toilet (which we fixed temporarily in order to continue our stay), they let us know they had already had issues with it and planned to call to fix it. All of the beds were stiff to sleep on, and we ended up having to wash dishes before using them as some were visibly soiled when pulled from in the cupboard. One of our first impressions of the property was a dilapidated staircase blocked off with board, and what looked like water damage leaking down from the inside walls. There were small differences from the listing to our stay, random furniture was moved or removed such as the couch upstairs, or the small BBQ grill on the porch. If we stay in Oceanside in the future, it will not be on this property.

Over all the place is a stunner. Stunning cabin in a stunning setting. You may not find better.

10 o'clock check out and 4 o'clock check in? So that's on the late end AND the early end. That's just to short. That's come in. Eat. Sleep. Leave. We called in the morning to get an extra hour. We said we had a sleeping child and could we have an hour---nothing crazy---that's leaving at 11! They said, No. You can only have a few extra minutes. That was the only sour note.
